Be kind, because you just don't know

We never know what's beneath the surface

Have you ever noticed how good we are at hiding our feelings? our stories?

We pass each other every day, give quick nods simply out of formality, but seldom pause long enough to truly see one another; who we really are behind “all this.”

We meet strangers, smile politely, exchange small talk, and assume we know enough.

But you know.. beneath every smile is a hidden story. There’s a quiet battle, a secret struggle, a silent victory, a suppressed emotion, you know absolutely nothing about.

The person who mistakenly brought you a black coffee instead of an iced latte might have spent the morning holding back tears because he couldn’t afford to buy medicine for his sick mom.

The friend who forgot your birthday might be overwhelmed and barely holding their own life together, or drowning quietly in obligations no one knows about.

The coworkers who’s distant lately might be grieving a loss they haven’t found the words to share yet.

Your neighbour might have spent last night staring at the ceiling, wondering how to survive just one more day.

Again the point is, we never truly know what someone else is carrying.

Life can be relentlessly tough and the burdens we carry are most of the time invisible. In the era of social media, we are used to wrapping ourselves in layers of smiles and silence despite the fire inside our minds.

So choose kindness, even when it’s hard, and especially when it’s underserved.

Kindness isn’t about understanding nor about knowing the full story. It’s simply about acknowledging that there’s always more beneath the surface.

It simply exists quietly, powerful, and… human.

And sometimes, your small act of kindness, might be the quiet lifeline someone desperately needed today.

Be kind, always.

Krish
